Caption Writing: 5 Ws and H

John White kisses Sandy Lambert on Monday of this week. This happened in Time Square, New York because White had just came back from World War II and rans swiftly up to Lambert.

This three firefighters are raising the flag of the United States a week ago on September 11. This happened in New York City because the Twin Towers were attacked by terrorism by two airplanes going through the buildings.

Mary Johns is kneeling in front of Kevin Carrey on Monday morning. It happened in Ohio, because they had shot Carrey on his back; there was a shooting in their University in Ohio.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

1. What first caught my eyes about this pictures were that they are real people on the pictures. Something particular that made me choose them was that I liked the first one was just a woman that looks like a hard work lady ready to take a picture and the second one looks like a poor mother that her kids are just laying down sleeping and all dirty and she is just looking at them.

2. I see in the first picture a woman ready to take a picture. With that slight smile like should take the picture or not. On the second picture theres a mother that is tacking care of her children that are asleep. Also that her two children that are laying in the ground the one on the right is not wearing a something in the bottom. And she looks tired and sad. I smell in the first picture a woman that was just ready to take a picture with a slight smile. Also I smell like nature like if she lives on a farm. On  the second picture I smell a single mother that is tacking care of her 3 children. I also smell the outside, I smell the city around them. I hear in the first picture just like nature around her, and in the second picture I hear a mother probably asking for help. On the first one I smell nature because I just hear by the wood the background of her picture. On the second picture I hear help because she is just looking at her children that are all asleep. The first image I taste like happiness on the woman because it looks like she is not that rich but is not that poor either. I taste this because I can tell by her slight smile that she wants to give. The second image I taste sadness because I see a single mother that's probably poor and doesn't have enough money to take care of her children. I feel on the first photo that the lady did wanted to take the picture. On the second image I feel that the mother just wants help with her children.

3. I would like to create big pretty posters and put them around the school so everybody can see the my great photographer. Also I would like to do a blog with all the cool pictures taken by him and I would copy the URL and post it on Facebook, Twitter, and etc so everyone could just click it and go and look at it too.

Mural Project Preview

1. Theme I would use for the Akins mural would be sports. I would include soccer, basketball, football,    and softball.
2. I think this theme would take time for devoting because is something that all students from Akins like  or just like to watch  this. I think others would care about this theme because they can probably capture good pictures of them playing.
3. The advantages of tacking pictures with a phone is that you can use your phone and a disadvantage is that the photo won't probably come out good.
4. The advantages of using a SLR camera  is that photos are going to come out good and the disadvantage  is that we don't get to use our phones.
5.  I think we should use SLR cameras because the photos are going to come out better than a phone.

Africa

1. This was one of my pictures because I think, well you can tell that the lion on the left is sad and the lion on the right is giving some support.
2. Its simplicity, because its just on both lions and the background is the sky.

                                                                        Nick Brandt
1. Brandt used Pentax 6711 with only two fixed lenses camera.
2. He works on a combination on epic panoramas of animals with dramatic landscapes.
3. To capture a good spirit of the animal.
4. "To me, every creature, human or nonhuman, has an equal right to live, and this feeling, this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera."

Academic Shoot reflection

1. Problems I encounter was taking framing pictures.
2. The technical aspects were focusing the camera to the subject like for example the rule of thirds.
3. Something I would do differently is focusing really good the camera on the subject.
4. Things I would do the same is holding the camera in a good position.
5. I think the easiest to achieve would be the rule of thirds and simplicity.
6. I think the one that would be harder to capture would be framing.
7. The one rule I am still not clear on is framing, something I can do to figure it out is to go over the pictures we've seen before.

Academics Shoot

Lines
1. I think I did follow the rule of lines because majority of the  picture has lines.
2. The subject of the picture is the green thing that covers part of the tennis court.
3. I think it's not one hundred percent clear of the subject if somebody else is looking at the subject.
4. Something I would do differently is try to focus it more on the subject.

Simplicity

1. I think I did follow the rule of simplicity because half of the picture is focus on simplicity.
2. The subject of this picture is the guy standing with the soccer ball next to him.
3. I think it's half percent clear of the subject.
4. Something I would do differently is that had moved more the camera to to the right so it could just be focus on the guy and the background could just be the grass and the sky.

Rule of Thirds
1. I did follow the rule of thirds because the soccer ball is the point of the thirds.
2. The subject of this picture is all the guys trying to get the soccer ball.
3. I think this picture is clear of what the subject is.

Balance

1. I think I did follow the rule of balance because there is a balance between all three guys.
2. The subject of this picture is the guys trying to hit the soccer ball.
3. I do think this picture has the subject clear.

Framing
1. I think I didn't really follow the rule of framing because its not really focusing on somebody.
2. The subject of this picture is the guy trying to kick the soccer ball.
3. I think the pictures subject is not clear.
4. Something I would do differently is that I would of gotten closer to the guy.

Avoiding Mergers
1. I think I did follow the rule of avoiding mergers because its cutting off people.
2. The subject of the picture is guys playing soccer.
3. I think the subject of this picture is clear.

                                                                          The Story

This photo shows the best story because everyone is holding hands, I think the story is there are all praying for something good.

                                                                    Action & Emotion

The action of this photo is the two girls are working on a experiment. The emotions of the girls look happy, they are smiling.

                                                                     Filling the frame

This photo is filled by people, it can tell that an organization or something are giving food to the elderly people.

I picked this photo because I like how they took it from above his head and its focus on him and the books. I think they are using the framing rule.

1. I think I could take pictures like I saw today like in science classroom or in the gym.
2. I would like to take pictures in Ms. McDaniels or Ms. Medinas classrooms.
3. I would take them really good using the photo rules like framing and simplicity.

Elements of Art and Principles of Design in Photography

Element of Art:
Lineare marks made by a pointed tool: brush, pencil, pen, etc. Lines can vary in width, direction, curvature, length, or color.

This picture has line in the back/wall, also in the front by where the legs of the man and kid are.

Shapeare formed wherever the ends of a continuous line meet.
In the background the house has shapes, like triangle and rectangle.

ColorThey also show the relationships between complementary colors across from each other, such as blue and orange; and analogous (similar or related) colors next to each other such as yellow, green, and blue. Black and white may be thought of as colors but, in fact, they are not. White light is the presence of all color; black is the absence of reflected light and therefore the absence of color.
This photo has a lot of color like orange and yellow and reddish.

Value (Tone)or tone, refers to dark and light; the value scale refers to black and white with all gradations of gray in between.  Value contrasts help us to see and understand a two-dimensional work of art.
This photo goes dark to light from right to left.

Formdescribes objects that are three-dimensional, having length, width, and height.
This painting has three-dimensional, the water that is going down.

Texturecan be rough, bumpy, slick, scratchy, smooth, silky, soft, prickly--the list is endless.  Texture refers to the surface quality, both simulated and actual, of artwork.
This painting shows texture, rough.

Spacerefers to distances or areas around, between, or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or  negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional.
This painting shows a lot of space in the background

Principles of Design:
Balanceis the comfortable or pleasing arrangement of things in art.  There are three different types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. The human figure is symmetrically balanced; the same on the left and right side. The tree is asymmetrically balanced; its branches are not distributed equally on each side, but their total weight is balanced left and right. The sun is an example of radial balance; all its rays are equal in length from the center.
This painting is balance because if you fold it in half it would be symmetrical.
Contrastis created by using elements that conflict with one another. Often, contrast is created using complementary colors or extremely light and dark values. Contrast creates interest in a piece and often draws the eye to certain areas. It is used to make a painting look interesting.

This painting is contrast because it shows 3-D and it makes the painting interesting.

Emphasisin the focal area of an artwork gives it importance.  An artist may stress some elements of the design over others. The eye of the viewer will focus on the area of emphasis or center of interest first, then take in the rest of the composition.
.The painting is emphasis because it is focus on the cafe.

Movement- in an artwork means the artist is taking viewers on a trip through the work by means of lines, edges, shapes, and colors often leading to the focal area.  Movement is a visual flow through the composition. It can be the suggestion of motion in a design as you move from object to object by way of placement and position.  Directional movement can be created with a value pattern. It is with the placement of dark and light areas that you can move your attention through the format.
This painting is showing movement because it shows color, and the movement is visual.

Patternare made in art when the same shapes or elements are repeated again and again.  Pattern uses the elements of art in planned or random repetitions to enhance surfaces of paintings or sculptures.
The panting shows pattern because can of food its repeating again and again.

Rhythmis the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms.  Rhythm is a movement in which some elements recurs regularly.  Like a dance, it will have a flow of objects that will seem to be like the beat of music.

This painting shows repetition of shapes.

Unity-
means that all elements in an artwork are in harmony.  Unity brings together a composition with similar units.  For example, if your composition was using wavy lines and organic shapes you would stay with those types of lines and not put in even one geometric shape.
The painting shows unity because it shows wavy lines and organic shapes.

Photo Composition and 9/11

Simplicity- This photo shows simplicity because it is focusing on the building and the sky is the background.

Rule of Thirds- I chose this photo for the rule of thirds because the building is in the section of the thirds.

Lines- This photo, the flag shows lines from left to right.

Balance- This photo shows balance because in top shows light and in the bottom it's dark.

Framing- This photo is framing the two guys that are standing looking up to the buildings.
Merger- This photo is a merger because it cut it the head of the men and part of the fire truck.
